Who Are We?

EduGive is a group run by high-school students from the Bay Area. We volunteer to teach free classes to younger students to make an impact in our community. We are passionate about what we do. Meet our team below!

Dedication. Experience. Passion.

Lillian Yao

Co-President

Hi! My name is Lillian Yao, and I’m currently a junior at American High. I enjoy different forms of coding, though Java is my favorite language (hence why I’ve mainly taught that!). In the past, I've taken APCSA, done USACO, and am involved with several CS related clubs at school. Making sure everyone likes the class as much as possible is one of my goals, hopefully giving them the opportunity to develop their own passions, without being forced into it. I hope to use my own past mistakes to give kids a good foundation and a fun experience :)

Katie Chen

Co-President

Hi, my name is Katie and I am a junior at American High School. I am passionate about art and design and would love to teach others these subjects. Art is something I love because it is a field that many people enjoy but rarely have a chance to pursue. After drawing for nearly 15 years, I have recently taken interest in digital art platforms and engineering design. I have earned 3 Silver Keys in the Scholastic Art Contest, painted a Fremont City Electric Box, and won 1st place in a National Youth Art Contest. Through Edugive, I had the opportunity to teach young students to create 3D objects using Blender. I wish to teach kids classes that are rarely taught in school and let them grow their creativity!

Aishwarya Gogi

Officer

Hello! I'm Aishwarya Gogi, a junior at American High School. Allowing a diverse range of students to learn is my passion, especially when it comes to inspiring younger minds and nurturing their potential for the future. I enjoy teaching speech, debate, and math, aiming to unlock students' voices and foster a genuine interest in these subjects. With experience hosting MOEMS Classes at libraries and tutoring middle and high schoolers, I've also led speech and debate classes across the bay. Alongside teaching, I'm actively involved in debate and Carnatic Music, earning a Director’s Award for my excellence in debate. I look forward to guiding you through an engaging learning journey!

Tegbir Kaur

Officer/Teacher

Hi! I am Tegbir Kaur and I am currently a sophomore at American High School. I’ve always been one to explore my creativity in many ways. From a young age, I always loved creative writing; whether it’d be short stories, novels, or poems. Technology has also always interested me, which is how I ended up researching and teaching myself how to create animated videos through the software Animaker and websites through the software Wix. Additionally, I would love to pursue my passion for many academic subjects as well, such as math and history. My passion for education and my own career goals led me to seek the experience that comes with teaching at EduGive. I am looking forward to working with all of you and I hope that my class makes a lasting impact on all of you! :)

Vanessa Yao

Teacher

Hi, my name is Vanessa Yao, and I’m a junior at American High. Programming has been one of my interests for the past couple of years, and I’ve had experience with Java, Python, and Web Development. Web Development stands out to me because it combines aspects of design and logic, something I feel is the best of both worlds. I’ve also taught a few coding classes as part of CTI, and I’ve gradually realized the power of leading students into a field they might have less experience in. Through EduGive, I hope to help everyone develop even a small interest in CS and Web Dev, and see how versatile it can be! Outside of school, I enjoy graphic design, watching tv, and writing random lyrics ;)

Hasini Methuku

Teacher

Hi! My name is Hasini Methuku and I am currently a sophomore at American High School. I’ve always loved math since I was little, and knew whatever my job would end up being, it would have some sort of math involved. I believe it's very useful to have a strong foundation in math since it’s found everywhere in our day-to-day lives. I also love engaging and interacting with people, and making math fun and unique in its own way, since it can be stated as “boring” sometimes. Outside of school I enjoy swimming which I’ve been doing for almost 8 years. I love to paint and draw (through which I express my creativity), read, volunteer anywhere that includes nature, and spend time with my family. I am incredibly honored to be a teacher at Edugive and I am looking forward to working with you all!

Co-Founder

Hello! My name is Tiffany Chen, and I'm a college freshman at UCLA. I'm very interested in the STEM field and particularly enjoy math and programming. I love teaching kids, and I genuinely enjoy interacting with them and teaching them new things. I excel in school, maintaining good grades throughout middle and high school. I have volunteered to teach HTML and Java classes to elementary/middle school students and am doing tutoring as well. Outside of school, I enjoy playing tennis and spending time with friends and family. I wanted to organize this program so that kids would have an opportunity to learn interesting material that is not taught at school and expand their interests and love for learning.

Co-Founder

My name is Evelyn Liu and I am a college freshman at UPenn. I thrive in academic settings, consistently maintaining good grades throughout my high school career and earning honors in various competitions like USABO. Starting in my elementary school years, I tutored children in subjects such as Math, English, Chemistry, and Biology during and after school. I also have a background of teaching students with learning difficulties. With this experience, I wish to teach students in areas of interest to serve as a base for their future education. Academics aside, I love playing badminton, taking walks, and doodling in my free time. I wanted to organize this program to better prepare students for their upcoming courses as well as to introduce topics to peak students' interests.
